Red Devils Midfielder Michael Carrick has signed a new one-year deal with The Old Trafford, as contract of 33-year-old Play-Maker was set to expire this summer but he has penned a deal tying him to the club until 2016.
Carrick has made 17 appearances under Louis van Gaal this season, notably helping United to a 3-0 win over former club Spurs on Sunday.
The Dutchman said: "He is for me my second captain behind Wayne Rooney and he can also read the game as a team player so that’s very important. He has also an excellent pass forward. I like as a manager passers forward so that’s very important for me."
Carrick made his first appearance for Van Gaal in November after starting the season in the treatment room and he only recently returned from a February layoff in the club's 1-0 win at Newcastle two weeks ago.
Carrick celebrated his return to form as he is called-up to Roy Hodgson's England squad for the fixtures against Lithuania and Italy at the end of the month.
