Roma have revealed that they came close to sign Norwegian wonderkid when he was jist 12 years of age.
Ødegaard was one of the Roma's sporting director Walter Sabbatini's first target upon his appointment at Stadio Olimpico in 2011 amd he did hos best to hook him into the Italian side.
"During my first year at home we became aware of Ødegaard. I made a big mistake l.It was partly my fault but also that of the environment and the coach, both of which played a part.We were very close to Ødegaard, before he went to Real Madrid, but ultimately it did not happen."-Gazzetta told to Dello Sports.
Roma again persuaded Ødegaard to move to the Club last Autumn, with former Norway star John Arne Riise revealing that he had adviced the club to make a bid.
