Shortly after World Cup of 2011 ended,ICC announced that world cups of 2015 and 2019 would include only ten teams,least teams opposed but that would more likely mean Ireland missing the World-Cricket fight.But the ICC governing body was forced to reverse their decision later.So Ireland Cricket team would enter into the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand with high hopes of getting into the top 10 ranking.
Ireland have not been involved in many of ICC Cricket events but eventually they have proved that they are getting better and better as they can take on the strongest teams on the biggest stages of cricket.
William potterfield-Captain of Ireland Cricket Team will be hoping his men heads to Australia amd New Zealand with eagerness to improve themselves and the National colors playing against South Africa,India,Pakistan, West Indies,Zimbabwe and UAE in Pool B,Group Matches.
The Irish Cricket authority decided to give back the captaincy to the Thirty-Year old William Porterfield as captain of the 15-men squad heading to Australia and New Zealand scheduled in February-March.
Porterfield will be one of the five players participating in their third big Cricket Stage tournament,other four are Ed Joyce John Mooney and O'Brien Brothers.It will be Debut Cup for Six players as young talent sweeps into the team : Craig Young,Stuart Thompson,Tim Murtagh,Andrew McBrine,Peter Chase,Andrew Balbirnie
