Excerpts:
In a way you played two match-winning knocks. Must be feeling good to be back?
It was fantastic to be back in the team and get a few runs and help the team get over the line. It was a really important game for us tonight to go one up. (At one stage) we were playing catch, but that win gives us the confidence and gets us back in the mix. So I am really happy.
Losing two wickets to unfortunate run outs, how did you then take it from there on?
We sort of had no choice but to continue on and play really positively while chasing a decent total. Me and Davy (David Miller) in the middle, we knew that we were just one or two big overs away to get back in the mix and we did that. Davy did that and carried on and batted fantastically after I got out. To get to a Super Over was fantastic and I guess anything can happen. But we were lucky enough, we obviously got over the line (and) we are a happy team at the moment.
What was the mood in the dugout like when you were dismissed with 75 more to get in 33 balls? Was the team backing Wriddhiman Saha and the lower middle-order to get the runs?
We have got lot of confidence in our tail. They can all play good cricket. They are all really good batters; so that’s wasn’t an issue. We just had to keep going, I think the run rate got to 13 (runs per over) so we just had no choice but to take the game on and try and get as close as we could. We always knew that, and like I said we were only a few big overs away and then we were back in the game. It worked out well to get a four off the last ball, get a Super Over and it was just fantastic!
Coming out to bat again what total were you looking at?
We weren’t looking at a total. We were just trying to hit the ball and hopefully pick a gap and try and get to a decent score. I think 16 was a decent total to defend, that put a bit of pressure on them and it always helps when you get wicket of the first ball. I think Mitch (Mitchell Johnson) did a fantastic job that over and for (Wriddhiman) Saha at the end to get a run out under pressure was fantastic. Wins like that can really get the confidence up in the group and hopefully that can kick start our campaign here.
Mitchell Johnson’s over after your knock took the game away from RR. Word on that over?
He is a world class bowler and obviously it was a huge wicket to get Watto (Watson) out first ball. I think he did a fantastic job and that’s why he is one of the best bowlers in the world.
RR has been the team to beat so far in this tournament. So it must be a huge boost to have beaten them?
We said after we lost the last game that if we had to compete, we had to beat the two best teams - Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings in a few days. We have beaten the Royals tonight and it would be a big challenge again in few days time against the Chennai (Super Kings). I think the confidence going there from tonight puts us in good stead.
