The match between Punjab & Kolkata Rajasthan resulted in the win to the King's XI Punjab. This match also resulted into the first super over of the 8th edition of IPL.
The Rajasthan Royals got to a very good start by the openers Ajinkya Rahane & Shane Watson. The boosted the score in the start but later after the wicket of Shane Watson they didn't get a steady partnership between them. Deepak Hooda played some big shots but later lost his wicket. Steve Smith the dangerous aussie player went to a golden duck which made the team in trouble. Rahane was scoring from one side but the team was losing wickets on the other side. Faulkner failed in making a score. Faulkner not only failed in batting but also in the bowling. He gave 41 runs in 4 overs without taking a wicket. The bowling was not as impressive because they gave many runs in the bowling. Chris Morris took a wicket followed by Tambe, Tewatia & Hooda taking 1 1 wickets each.
The Punjab team failed to dismiss the openers early in the powerplay. Both the batsmen were set on the crease when they got their first wicket. They got back the momentum after the 1st wicket. They took more wickets in a row after that wicket. The team also batted well. The Australian player Shaun Marsh who came in for the injured player Bailey played a very crucial knock in order to help them win. He was given a small small support by every player but didn't get a good partnership early. David Miller who was not impressive in the tournament till now scored a quickfire 50 which helped to draw and result the match in super over.

The Punjab team had to bat first. They lost David Miller on the very first bowl of the match. But later Shaun Marsh scored quick runs by hitting 3 boundaries. In the bowling it was Mitchell Johnson who had to bowl. He also took the first wicket of the team and relived the momentum in the match. Later on the third ball the second wicket of the team fall which resulted a win for the King's XI Punjab.
The Rajasthan had to bowl first and on the very first ball they dismissed the dangerous Miller. But later they gave away 3 boundaries to the KXIP. The captain came in to bat but on the very first ball he was bowled by a yorker of Mitchell Johnson. The next ball was no ball and was hammered to the fence for a boundary. On the next ball the wicket was down with a run out by Wriddhiman Saha.
The match ended with the King's XI Punjab winning the match in the super over and also Shaun Marsh was the man of the match for his crucial knock for the team.
