LA Galaxy vs Portland Timbers

The Galaxy take on the Timbers in Portland at Providence Park on Sunday. The Timbers started off their new season with a point, playing to a scoreless draw.  But the LA Galaxy have opened their MLS Cup title with a 2-0 victory.

There will be one major change for the Timbers coming into this weekend's match because Diego Chara is back. The defensive midfielder Chara brings a much more change and refined skill-set to Timbers. The Timbers picked up right where they left in 2014, reaching a scoreless draw with the season opener at Providence park.

"I think it will be exciting. I think there will be a nice rhythm and flow to it. Always when we play LA its gets chippy as well, so I think there will be a lot of intensity to the game." said Caleb Porter

The Galaxy have always been a team with big names surrounded by quality of players. LA Galaxy midfielder Villarreal had scored the first goal in the MLS season, netting the opener midway through the second half as the Galaxy began their defense of the MLS Cup title with a 2-0 win against the Chicago fire on Friday evening.  In the attack, no player is rightly feared than Robbie Keane. The responsibility of taking Keane out of the game will fall on Jewsbury and the Timbers centerbacks.

Dan Gargan said that "Hands down it's among the best we play in. They have great support. What they've done with that stadium gives it kind of a unique atmosphere, which is really cool to play. They have knowledgeable fans, and it's always fun to play in front of people that hate you. It adds a little extra something to the game."

"Obviously you lose a quality player, but they're a similar team. Very aggressive at home. Obviously you don't replace Valeri with another player, but they're still a good team. They're always tough games there, an outstanding crowd. One of the best venues in the league for a home team. And a good team, which will make for a good game." Arena said of the Timbers.
