The much awaited match for both the teams has come to an end with Irish coming out as the deserved winners. It was a great match with more than 600 runs scored in the match.
1st Innings
Ireland batted first and did not get a great start. They lost their opening batsman Porterfield and Stirling early and desperately needed a big partnership. They got it in the form of Ed Joyce and Andrew Balbirnie of 138 runs. Joyce was dropped on 34 but then he took the opportunity and went on to score a superb and well deserved century. He scored 112(103) balls with 9 boundaries and 3 sixes. On the other hand Andrew played brilliantly but was unlucky as he couldn't get his century. He scored 97(79)balls with 7 boundaries and 4 sixes. It was a great batting performance by the Irish side as they gave a target of huge 332 runs to Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe did not bowl that well as they gave away 15 extras in the innings and also dropped a few catches. The pick of their bowlers was Tendai Chatara with bowling figures of 10-0-61-3.
2nd Innings
Zimbabwe now had a big target to chase and was looking tough as well. They had a poor start and lost 4 wickets for just 74 runs. It was a very poor start by looking at the big target in front of them. But to their relief again their main batsmen Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams again stepping up for their team. They had a big partnership of 149 runs and also proved game changing. Brendan Taylor scored 121(91)balls with 11 boundaries and 4 sixes. Sean williams scored 96(83)balls with 7 boundaries and 2 sixes. They tested the Irish bowling. Isrish did not bowl that well as they gave 11 extras in the innings. Their pick of the bowlers was Alex Cusack with bowling figures of 9.3-2-32-4. It was a very close match as Irish won by just 5 runs.
