FC Goa vs Delhi Dynamos : Preview

Roberto Carlos side travel to Goa for Opening Fixture in Indian Super League,in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.ISL kicked off their Second Season when Atletico De Kolkata defeated Chennaiyin FC in a Five Goal thriller.

Zico's managing story continues with FC Goa in the second season, Having managed teams in countries like Greece, Russia and the Middle-East, the lure of bringing Zico’s coaching pedigree in smaller footballing countries proved to be a wise decision for FC Goa.

The expectations are high from Zico, especially after the Brazilian himself has been vocal about his involvement in the signings, unlike the preceding year.

The Club from The Capital City will be looking to 'Right Their Wrongs' from Last season,Dynamos missed Semi-Final place by just One Point last season. But Expectation from Dynamos rises this season with likes of Roberto Carlos, Florent Malouda and John Arne Riise coming in.

New Manager Roberto Carlos had not much experience in Coaching as before arriving to Dynamos Roberto was the manager of Two Clubs in Turkish League.

In the first ever ISL auction, they managed to rope in the likes of Robin Singh and Anas Edathodika.

Roberto Carlos had announced his retirement back in 2012 but three years later, will once again be on the field at the age of 42,it would prove a defining moment for the 'fans' but he would have to maintain his intensity and get involved.

Dynamos have selected their squad thoroughly as we see they have tried to improve their Striking force which was too weak last season comparatively.

Roberti Carlos side got in signings viz. Florent Malouda, John Arne Riise and Roberto Carlos provide great experience and the addition of Adil Nabi brings a potent goal scoring threat. But on the opposite side There have been notable departures for the side as well including star performer Kristof Van Hout in goal who had six clean sheets last term. Wim Raymakers, Bruno Herrero and Mads Junker who were also amongst the regulars have also been let go.

He is the biggest star on the Delhi Daredevils’ roster but despite the spotlight Roberto Carlos is facing, the Brazillian World Cup winner says he does not feel any pressure ahead of the ISL starting October 3.

“There is no pressure on me here in Delhi Dynamos and me doing the best for the team is what I call an obligation, something I tried doing my entire life,” Carlos at a media interaction in New Delhi.

The Real Madrid legend, in an event announcing the signing of Brazillian midfielder Vinicius Frreira de Souza, said that he sees great talent in his team, be it the home players or foreign imports.

“I am getting to know the Indian players and they are really good. It’s just that the mentality to play for win that I would like to instill into them. Because for me playing is winning.

“I would like them to play offensive. For me this is how football should be played. People don’t come to see a game where the teams play for a tie,” said the seemingly excited Carlos.

The fact that the last Indian Super League didn’t really go according to the liking of Delhi Dynamos does not bother the 42-year-old who feels that it’s media’s job to cherry-pick the negatives.

“My whole concentration is on this season. The one that we’ll be playing. We have so many new people joining us and as a player and coach I’ll not think of what happened before. My goal remains simple and that is to win matches,” said Carlos.

On the question of him playing matches selectively, the dead-ball specialist said, “If I get to play all the games, then I will play all. Of course, I won’t be playing a full game. It will be for few minutes only.

“I think I’ll probably join them in the field when they are winning and go out when the situation is opposite.” quipped the footballer.
