Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals suspended for two years.

Today was the D-Day for the owners of both Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Both the owners were caught in match fixing 2 seasons ago.

The D-Day has proven costly for both the team. The decision from the court is clear that both the teams would be suspended for 2 years from the competition. This is caused because of the fixing spat that had been seen in IPL 2 seasons back.

"The players are free. They will not be attached to a particular team of the franchise that is suspended. We thought that cricket is bigger than individuals and then the financial loss to players and franchises is not of significance." Justice Lodha said."

Suspension of the teams is also followed by the suspensuion of Raj Kundra and Gurunath Meiyappan are also banned from all the BCCI related cricket activities for life as they were caugth in betting and disrespecting the game and the tournament.

Both are heavyweight teams and have won the title atleast one time. RR the inaugral champions and Csk who have won the title 2 times and have entered the finals for 6 times. Rajasthan started making a good comeback but were struck by a blow as a couple of their players got caught. This was the same condition but in Csk the owner was caught. This has lead to a decision that both the heavyweight teams have been banned for next 2 seasons of Indian Premier League(IPL). Its a bad news for the fans of the respective team.

But the decision is from the court and may not be overruled.

Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals have been banned for next two Ipl seasons.

"Conflict of interest questions have been raised, once we complete the process of interacting with all the stakeholders, we will take a view on that. That exercise is not complete. This order is confined to determining the quantum of punishment to the two individuals and the franchises. We have interacted with 40-45 people, we are yet to meet a few others. Once that is done we will decide what guidelines are to be given. Our idea is to get inputs from all stakeholders. It is not confined to cricket administrators and politicians," Justice Lodha said.
