Alexis Sanchez has missed the spotlight in his early career although being pacey and tricky,he earned plaudits but was under-seen as it was Antonio Di Natale at Udinese or more notably Lionel Messi at Barcelona as they got greater attention from the watching world.
Now,finally Chile looks Sanchez as he is quickly adapting to the demands of being the go-to guy for both club and country as he scored for Chile to earn them the lead against Mexico and got the hosts into the quarters of Copa America on monday. His fantastic form with Arsenal was one of the highlights of the 2014-15 Premier League season, his 25 goals and 11 assists – culminating with a stunning goal in their FA Cup final win – completely justifying the Gunners’ decision to pay Barcelona in excess of €40 million for a man who never seemed to get the credit he deserved in Catalunya.
It was probable when people looked to Leo Messi at Nou Camp as the Argentine International was breaking records and getting the trophies for the Spainish Club, but when he was back at Udinese he was tearing up and topping the gears but again Di Natale's scoring record left Sanchez playing as a second option, yet his qualities had Barca pay €37.5m for his services.
Yet that is certainly the case no longer. Not only has he transformed the attacking potency of Arsene Wenger’s side with his blistering speed and ever-improving eye for goal, he has also become the darling of a nation over recent times.
"I really see in Alexis as a much more mature and consolidated player, and he is one of the best in the world,I also know he played a significant amount of minutes, he was not used to the continuity of English football. He makes an enormous effort in every training session and in every game."Sampaoli said.
Even former Chile players have been blown away by his development into a world-class superstar, with ex-striker Ivan Zamorano telling Goal recently that he considers the ex-Barcelona star’s performances in the Premier League to be a sign he can deliver from the spotlight and not just in a supporting role.
“He is the leading figure for us. Because of the level that he has displayed at Arsenal, he is the card we can play to do something different,When he has the ball something always happens and that is a good thing. If he plays well, we have a good chance. Let's hope the other 10 are also in top form. He can be as good as he wants, although he can still improve. He will do very well for the team.”said Zamorano.
Now he is a superstar,Sanchez has led up to the expectations as having helped to add silverware to the cabinet at the Emirates Stadium this season, the next task for him is to have a major say in Chile’s first Copa America triumph.
