Jason Kries side will be looking to end their seven matches victory drought at Yankee Stadium, Last week saw them suffer a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chicago Fire in which many were expecting them to pick up at least a point.
New York City are placed uncomfortably in the eight place in Eastern Conference, being two place out to play-offs with rival debutant Orlando City currently sitting sixth spot.Seattle Sounders are getting back into form as they have now registered back-to-back victory for premier time this season following their victory against Portland Timbers the past week.
Sounders will now play three away games consecutively before returning to Centurylink Field where they will attend three consecutive fixtures. This is the first meeting between both the sides as both will be looking to capitalise.
Despite of struggling NYC head coach looks encouraged with the team-effort:
"I'm continually impressed by this team. They keep fighting and not giving up. I'm pleased with that.I'm pleased with the resolve and the togetherness. I wish that we had figured out a way to get a little more attack going in the second half."
Sounders are undoubtedly one of the defence camp to look out for as they have only yield five goals in last seven matches and have not provided enough place for the strikers to run in.
Seattle is coming off a Cascadia Cup victory over Portland as Clint Dempsey scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win, marking the Sounders fourth successive victory over their rivals. Here is what Seattle coach Sigi Schmid had to say about his teams defensive effort :
"You look at our defense [so far] this year I think we're, if not at the top of the league, we're very close to the top of the league. That'll always keep you in games and give opportunities to win games."
New York City will be missing the services of George John and Javier Calle is out with hamstring problems.Tony Taylor will miss the rest of the season where as David Villa, Adam Nemec and Jason Hernandez are doubtful for the clash.Sounders are full available and will be looking to get their third consecutive victory with their first trip to Yankee Stadium.
