WWE Hall of Famer Verne Gagne passed away


WWE saddened to report that Verne Gagne the legendary  and Hall of Famer at the age of 89 passed away today. He was commonly know for the popularizing the American Wrestling Association out of Minnesota for numerous decades. Before ultimately shutting down in 1991, the company was major force in wrestling. 

WWE dishearten to report that Gagne a ten time AWA World Heavyweight Champion also was later inducted into both the WWE and WCW Hall of Fame in adjoining of Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. Gagne was also known as masterly amateur wrestler.

He was known for his forceful training camps. In training the likes of Ric Flair, Bob Backlund, Curt Henning, Ricky Steamboat, The Nasty Boys, Iron Sheik, and countless other, Gagne had a hand. The son of Gagne, Greg was alos a long opponent for the AWA. 

The Wrestler 1974 film was also been starred and produced by Gagne. It would feature dozens of wrestlers as themselves, except Gagne and Billy Robinson, who portrayed Mike Bullard and Billy Taylor, respectively.

Gagne was identified problem with Alzheimer's disease and had been strained to live at a health care facility. Gagne was been cared by his daughter Beth and the son in law,Will, after 2009 incident.  We expresses our sympathy to friends, family and fans of Verne Gagne.

Okerlund said “Verne was one of the pioneers. He put (pro wrestling) on the map in the early days when no one had seen it before… He was a taskmaster without a question. He demanded a lot out of people and he got a lot out of people.”

Flair provided a story about Gagne not allowing him to quit training even though he tried to do it on his first day. Flair said “He came over to my house, walked to the front door, threw me into the front yard and told me ‘You’re not quitting on me. He said, ‘I’ll see you tomorrow.’ … I went back out, lasted two days and I quit again. It was so hard. He made me who I am.”
