LA GALAXY vs PORTLAND - Report


LA Galaxy  secured a 2-2  draw in Portland against Timbers. The Galaxy and Timbers saved the dramatics for the end on s blustery Sunday afternoon at Providence Park, trading goals in the final 2 minutes in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw.


Although Galaxy controlling the game, the Timbers striker Adi nearly played a role of hero with a 90 minute goal to put Portland ahead by 2-1. The Galaxy were not to be denied, however, as second half substitute Gordon scored stoppage-time equalizer, deflating a home crowd still blanked in green smoke from the would be game winner.

Both sides had no problem getting forward in first half, with plenty of early chances nothing, however, to test either goalkeeper. Portland took a 1-0 lead in the first half in the 31st minute.
Husidic got an open visual on goal from the head of the box in the 50th minute, but his right-footed blast voyage high, and then two minutes later Zardes took a long ball in the Timbers box only to see his right footed attempt wanting more as it to voyage high.

The LA Galaxy tied a game in 65th minute. Zardes was the player who leveled the score the first time.

The Timbers hits for their second when center back Ridgewell played up the right wing to Nagbe, who left off for Adi in the box and took a 2-1 lead in 90th minute. Forward Fanendo Adi scored both goals.

Gordon's equalizer came off a corner kick, looping a header from the center of the area over reach of Kwarasey in extra time and the game ended in a 2-2 tie. And the Timbers are dealing with two draws in to matches.

"Not getting three points in the last two games is not what we wanted, but ultimately we haven't lost to two of the best teams in the league. I think if you look at performance, there a lot of positives and that's the way we're going to look at it." Porter said.
