John Cena confess that he will not backpack on in a WWE ring when his time is completed.
Talking with Digital Spy and other journalists ahead of WrestleMania 31, the 15-time world champion John Cena was questioned how he designates with his brutal schedule.
"The long and short of it is I really like my job. Everyone always asks the question, 'How do you do it?'. I love working. You'll hear everybody say that, but I prove it. I'm not saying that to condescend anybody else's opinion, I'm saying it because I love it, truly. I want to be in this industry as long as I can, and I'm going to. When I'm a step slower than I should be and I shouldn't be out there, I'm not gonna be out there. That'll be very, very relevant to the entire audience - as you know they're very vocal. When it's time to go it'll be time to go." Cena said.
Of what else he can accomplish in the industry, Cena told that "If the chairman was sitting here you could say, 'Hey man, you took it from territory to nationwide and then you took it global. You started pay-per-views, you developed the WWE Network, you pretty much put everybody else out of business, what's next for you?'. He doesn't have a stopping goal. We can always go some place else. I really, really want the WWE to be able to perform on a regular basis in China. I think we should be able go to India on a regular basis. I want to be in this industry as long as I can, and I'm going to. I'm not the person who's booking Live Events, but whatever I can do to push that message forwards and help those things happen. WrestleMania is at Levi's Stadium. We should do every show in a stadium! And then we should build a bigger stadium."
Cena persisted "That's what's great about WWE. We're always extending families, there's always another story to tell, it's never essentially over. You can tell I still have passion for this. I really love it and we'll see what's next when we see what's next."
And asked if Cena had any words of recommendation for Roman Reigns and of functioning with developing talent at the last two WrestleManias, Cena said , "I told him to just be himself out there and as long as they make a noise I think he's doing just fine. Some people put a stress on the main event at WrestleMania. The product has grown to such an extent that every match is a main event. The goal of everybody should just be to be involved at WrestleMania. It's been a pleasure, it truly has, to see the excitement, to see the anticipation, to see the nerves... it's something that I still go through. To be able to be a life-long memory for a competitor's situation, a story they'll have to tell for the rest of their life, that's a pretty cool thing."
Of how John can build up the US Championship and was been asked should he beat Rusev, Cena spoked that "From a competition perspective it doesn't need to be rebuilt. Sheamus had it before Rusev, Rusev's had it and has been undefeated. I think it's a beacon of achievement, I really do. Right now we're in a difficult situation with a WWE Heavyweight Champion who when he shows up does some damage, believe me. I think I spoke German after SummerSlam I took so many suplexes! But I wanna be able to have a viable, competitive championship that's available at every Live Event, at every television, at every special event, at every pay-per-view. On top of that, those who watch WWE know, I'm almost overly-patriotic. That's not a work, that's who I am. It gives me great pride, not only from a nostalgia factor to be the championship that I won at WrestleMania XX, but to be the bearer of the championship that essentially defines the United States."
Cena had been asked of whether he would bring back the custom spinner belt introduced during his third reign, Cena banter "I think that might have been a design phase! I can't say I'm not looking into the definition of what the new spinner would be, but here I am in a suit and tie, whereas in a spinner belt I'd be in a fitted cap and a clean white T-shirt and some jean shorts, so we'll see."
He had been quizzed on when he last 'marked out' as a ongoing fan of WWE, Cena answered "Last Monday, Sting's entrance on Raw. And the Monday before when they played Undertaker's entrance and he didn't come out. Just moments that the audience gets so excited that you emotionally can feel it - any time that happens. And I've got news for you, there's a whole slew of 'em that are happening on Sunday, so that's why it's a pretty special day for all of us. Whether you dive into this business as deep as you wanna go, or you're a casual fan just buying a ticket to see a crazy display of live entertainment, the moments when the audience are its own being are the moments that everybody remembers."
Asked about for a rematch with Daniel Bryan, Cena asserts "I think right now especially if you look at Sunday he probably has the same goal that I have. [He wants] to win the Intercontinental Championship and make it as important as he can. I'm trying to win the US Championship and make it as important as I can. We do have a lot of events in recent memory, so I'm not saying it's never gonna happen, but it probably won't happen on Sunday. We'll have to wait and see, but I'm glad there's a want and anticipation for that. Daniel's a hell of a competitor for that and it's a pleasure to be in the ring with him."
Cena characterized the NXT event in San José down stream that evening as the "sleeper main attraction of WrestleMania", affront "I'm going to try and shuffle my schedule around and sneak in the back - I'll probably wear my El Generico mask. I really am very proud of those guys, who certainly have their crosshairs on me and wanna take my job! But I think that's the way it should be, and not only are they just saying it, they're doing it. I think you'll see a very, very different dynamic on the WWE roster come Dallas next year for WrestleMania."
