Pakistan who came in the tournament with two big blows in their team. Saeed Ajmal and Mohammed Hafeez been kept out of the squad due to their chucking action. Months ago the world cup Saeed Ajmal was called upon by the ICC for his chucking action and was asked to improve it. He wasn't 100% with his new action so had to be removed from the squad. The same happened to Mohammed Hafeez and due to this Pakistan lost the world class spinner and their no. 1 batsman and allrounder.
Younus Khan was appointed to open the batting but he hasn't been successful. Pakistan have not got good starts in both their matches against India and West Indies. Against India they lost an early wicket but were playing steady till they were at 123 runs but then lost wickets at regular intervals. Their captain Misbah ul Haq was the only man standing at the crease and scoring runs. He tooks the Pakistani total to the as near as possible to make the net runrate less affective. They need their top and the lower order to stand up. Their bowling line up has got weakened due to exclusion of Saeed Ajmal anf haven't produced the required breakthroughs. Their fielding is also needed to be looked into. Their fielders aren't fast enough except Ahmed Shazad who is an outstanding fielder. The team shouldn't be dependent on one player or the couple of players everytime.
Against West Indies they played very poor cricket. In bowling they did well in the first 25 overs but then leaked runs and allowed them to score 310 runs which is a huge target. Their bowling was not that impressive and not the fielding as well. They needed someone to standup in the batting and lead the side through a win. But it did not happen. They lost 4 wickets for just 1 run in 3 overs which gave signs that Pakistan wouldn't win the match at any cost. Then they lost the key and the 5th wicket of their captain on 25 runs and was maybe the end of their last well known batsman. But Umar Akmal showed some resistance by scoring a half century but soon got out in upping the run rate. Soon Shahid Afridi also got out and the team was bowled out at 160 runs.
They lost by a huge margin of 150 runs. This loss may have ended their hopes of remaining alive in the World Cup.This team needs someone to tell them to play simple and quality cricket and play as a team. The chances of this team progressing in the World Cup are very very less because they have a tough match against the South Africans who will come hard at them for a win after their loss to India. Pakistani team is in a spot of bother and have their chances for the World Cup crushed..?
