ENGLAND VS SCOTLAND - POSTVIEW


The lack of experience in the Scotland squad was been taken into advantage by the England bowling department as the Scot's were dissmissed for a poor sum of 184. Scotland opted to field after winning the toss letting the English batsman into pressure. This was the 14th match of the ICC's event at Christchurch.

The squad for this match:-

England:- Ian Bell, Moeen Ali, Gary Ballance, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan (Capt.), Jame Taylor, Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes, Stuart Broad, Steven Finn, James Anderson

Scotland:Kyle Coetzer, Calum Macleod, Freddie Coleman,Matt Machan, Preston Mommsen (Capt.), Richie Berrington, Matthew Cross, Josh Davey, Majid Haq, Alasdair Evans, Iain Wardlaw



The England started well as the partnership for the 1st wicket was held at 172 with a brilliant century by Moeen Ali scoring 128 runs in 107 balls. On thr opposite Ian bell supported his team mates while getting 54 in 85 balls. Josh Davey led the bowling for Scotland as he hooked up 4 wickets at the rate of 6.80 runs per over supported by Masid Haq, Alasdair Evans and Iains Wardlaw. Eoin Morgan bought his form back as he snatched up 46 runs in 42 balls and help his side to reach 300 mark.

Engalnd were at the good position after the mandetory powerplay scoring at 5.80 runs per over. Gary Ballance failed to make impact and continue to pressurize the light blue side as he was cheaply dismissed for 10 runs coming in at no. 3. The expectation were all from James Taylor but he didn't succeeded on putting the icing on the cake scoring just 17 runs in 26 balls without getting any runs behind boundaries.



Scotland came into the second innings pressed in the minds as they had amount of 304 to snatch up the victory. Kyle Coetzer impressed the crowd with 71 on his name scoring 11 boundaries but on the other side Calum Macleod failed to pop up the expectation. Steven Finn helped England to notch up the wickets supported by all- Anderson, Woakes, Moeen Ali and Joe Root. The squad tried to have a good start to their inngs scoring 47 runs in the mandetory powerplay, but Calum Macleof was dismissed in first 10 followed by Coleman at 10.1.Then squads failed to stay on wicket as the dismissal came in intervals.

It was a performance to remember the whole life for England All rounder Moeen Ali. He failed to make his mark in the 1st two matches while here he had shown the maturity on the wicket with a much improved batting technique and bowling arm.

For Soct's it was a performance from which they can take much, they were playing against the England as they got much to be talked and improved on.
The scot's faces Afghans in their next fixture followed by Bangladesh, where as the English side face Sri Lanka heading into their next match.
